What is the appropriate cooking temperature for chicken and why does it matter to cook the chicken fully?

It is safe to eat beef, pork and lamb even if its half or over cooked but it’s not at all safe to eat the chicken if it’s not properly cooked. So the best way to find out whether the chicken is cooked or not is by knowing its internal temperature and this can be done if we use the best meat thermometer for checking the cooking status of the chicken.

What is the correct internal temperature for the chicken?
The correct chicken temperature of 165ºF (75ºC).As this is the temperature when you can have it irrespective of the fact which cooking methods you have implemented. You can have the chicken when the cooked chicken temp reaches 165ºF.

Why it is important to cook the chicken till the proper internal temperature?
Cooking chicken to the internal temperature of 165ºF is not a suggestion rather it’s very important when the food safety is concerned because y=if you are eating the undercooked chicken then you can be affected by the disease called salmonella infection .so it’s best to cook the chicken to the mentioned internal temperature to be safe from the food borne infections and illness.

Cooking time is the time duration which is required to cook the chicken fully. The cooking time depends upon the chicken temperature at which it’s placed inside the oven and the thickness of its meat. Moreover the cooking time will be less if the temperature is higher and the cooking time wills b more if the temperature is lower.

The following are the ways through which you can get an idea whether the chicken is cooked till the right temperature.-
1. Preheat your oven before you start cooking chicken:-
If you are putting the entire chicken inside the oven before preheating it then you will be having trouble in knowing the exact temperature when it should be fully cooked from inside and outside. So your chicken will be unevenly cooked which will make it a totally unhealthy food to be eaten.
2. Use the best meat thermometer:-
If you use an instant meat thermometer then it will inform you when the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 165ºF.
3. be sure that your oven is calibrated:-
Place an oven thermometer inside the oven and then turn it on. Check the reading on your thermometer and if it’s same as the temperature visible on the oven dial then its fine orelse get your oven serviced or adjust the cooking time accordingly.

How an outdoor thermometer can be calibrated?

A thermometer is a device which is used for knowing the temperature. The thermometers are able to predict the temperature with the material which has the linear expansion rate which is over the desired temperature. The outdoorthermometer is commonly designed including a tube which contains the liquid and metal strip curled in the spiral form. You have to view the position of this liquid or the metal strip to position the scale for the thermometer.

Initially you should be examining the physical phenomena to start calibration of the thermometer. Fahrenheit and Celsius are the two temperature scales and the calibration temperature of both of these scales is the boiling point as well the freezing point of the water.
Now you have to select the calibration temperature of your thermometer. The Celsius scale uses 0 degree and 100 degrees. The Fahrenheit scale should be set at 32 degrees for the freezing point of the water and 212 degrees for boiling point.
Thirdly you have to arrange the ice bath in a large container which can properly fit the thermometer. Then fill the container with water and ice .then leave it for 10-15 minutes and wait for the stabilization of the temperature. Put the thermometer into and wait till it reaches its lowest reading.
It’s time to jot down the temperature on the outdoor thermometer. Try to adjust the thermometer to its freezing point if you can adjust it. But if the thermometer can’t be adjusted then you have to do a correction when you record the thermometer reading. For instance, if you are recording the Fahrenheit Thermometer ie, freezing point of the water and its 40 degrees then you have to subtract 2 degrees from the reading of your thermometer.
Then you have to put the thermometer in the boiling water and find out the boiling point of the water and record both the temperatures. If you are getting the correct temperature of the boiling water then it’s great if not then check out your thermometer properly.
